There is more than one way to be creatve, and at times I think I may have tried them all. As my hort essay will reveal, my life has been one of continuos creativity.

I was a professional musician (violinist and choir director) for many years in Los Angeles (my birthplace), two small towns in South Dakota, as well as in Boulder, Colorado, where I played first section violin in the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra. For the choral groups I led I created a body of choral music ranging from anthems and solos to a full cantata.

As a parish pastor in South Dakota I was responsible for producing weekly sermons. This work involved research plus the application of scripture to daily life. I also wrote four published books and three published scholarly articles. Here, too, I produced a radio program on NPR in South Dakota. After my move to Denver, I also produced a weekly radio broadcast for several years that featured classical choral music.

My visual artistic work began when I studied graphic design in Denver. Soon after this training I produced posters, logos, book designs (covers and interiors), speaker one-sheets, programs for concerts and CD packages. I also did quite a bit of multilingual desktop publishing.

However, for the last few years I have concentrated on creating digital art. My art has two foci — 1. Jesus Christ and the Church Year; and, 2. The Creation, whether on the earth or in the farthest reach of the Hubble Space Telescope. My religious pieces will find a welcome in church-related buildings such as churches, hospitals, parochial schools and homes. The other pieces would be appropriate for public venues such as hospitals, hospitality businesses and government buildings.

I currently live in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania with my wife, Jane, who is attending the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.
